DIgital LAser PROduction: Digital Twins of Laser Processing for Multi-Capability Manufacturing of Complex Components and Certification

Digital Certification will only scale if the evidence behind each decision can be trusted and exchanged consistently

From 14 to 18 September, DILAPRO Project was represented at the ISO/TC 261 meeting in Singapore by Eurico Assunçao from European Federation for Welding, Joining and Cutting (EWF) and Gregor Reischle from Qualified AM GmbH . Their participation brought the project’s work on the digital qualification and certification of additively manufactured components into international standardisation discussions.

DILAPRO Project is developing DILAFACT and DILACERT, two digital tools that use Digital Twins, process monitoring and manufacturing data to support laser-based production and certification.

The standardisation recommendations shared during the meeting addressed:
• A harmonised digital evidence package for AM qualification and certification;
• Workflows linking risk assessment, process monitoring and conformity assessment;
• Common requirements for data completeness, calibration, integrity and traceability;
• Recognition of validated in-process monitoring as certification evidence;
• Secure archiving and long-term retention of certification-relevant data.

Bringing these findings into international standardisation discussions is an important step for DILAPRO Project, creating a direct link between the project’s developments and future approaches to digital qualification, certification and conformity assessment.
